Filpumps are specialists in the installation of private water supplies and borehole drilling, having installed borehole supplies at domestic properties, farms, mineral water companies, food & fish processors, distilleries plus many many more!

We have been providing water services since 1992, and our borehole drillers have been drilling boreholes for over 30 years, so you know you are dealing with an experienced company.

We can undertake any work on private water supplies, from the initial installation, water analyses, drilling for water, to maintenance on an existing supply.

Private Water Supplies are beneficial to commercial and industrial users who use large quantities of water, as no license is required for usage up to 10m3 (2200 gallons) per day. This can impact massively on costs, as without water rates to pay, the only costs incurred is the cost of the electricity used in running the system.

What Is A Borehole?

A Borehole is basically a modern version of a well, but smaller, easier to maintain and less likely to be at risk of outside contaminants.

As an alternative to a mains supply, a borehole provides you with a water source to use as pure drinking water, or for many other purposes (eg irrigation, etc).

With the average water usage per person estimated at 220 litres per day (with flushing toilets, baths, showers, cooking, drinking, etc) it is easy to see that a private water supply could be of benefit to you on a daily basis.  And if you are a company having to pay for water usage, then you will find that the cost of installing a borehole can be recouped in an acceptable payback period.

Almost anyone with land or a garden can have a borehole.  Although we cannot guarantee that a suitable water supply will be found, as we are dealing with a natural resource, we can make use of a water diviner or a British Geological Survey - both of which provide us with a good indication of where a water supply can be located.

Borehole water is normally of a high quality, but we provide water testing from a specialist lab, so that if your supply is to be used for drinking we can ensure that the quality of the water by providing and installing the necessary water filtration and treatment.

Why do I need a borehole?

High water rates
Increased water costs
Unreliable water supply
Use a lot of water, eg have a large garden, have water features, you keep animals, etc
No access to mains water
