First used in 1959 in the harsh conditions of forage and moist grain silos, Glass-Fused-To-Steel tanks and silos have proven to be the most reliable and economic solution to many environmental and conservational problems around the world. 
Permastore® Glass-Fused-To-Steel structures have been utilised extensivly for the storage of agricultural livestock effluent. The experience we have accured over a period in excess or 40 years in association with independent assessment, continuous produt development and improved quality provides a sound basis for a minimum 30 year Design Life compliant with ISO15686 parts 1,2 & 3.
All Permastore® Slurry Tanks sold in the UK comply with BS5502 50 & 22 and The Control of Pollution (Silage, Slurry and Agricultural Fuel Oil) (Scotland) Regulations 1992 and 2001.

Typical Capacity Guide for Cows
Typical capacity for cow slurry 
= no. of cows x 12 gallons (54 litres) x no. of days storage required

Typical capacity for washing etc 
= no. of cows x 4 gallons (18 litres) x no. of days storage required
= gallons of slurry storage required


Typical Capacity Guide for Pigs
Typical capacity for pig slurry 
= no. of pigs x 1.5 - 2.0 gallons (7-10 litres) x no. of days storage required
= gallons of slurry storage required

N.B. Allowances should be made for the following when calculating sizes for slurry tanks:
1. Dirty water from open yards (500 gallons per 1000 sq.ft area for every inch of water)
2. Rainfall on the tank itself
3. Freeboard - regulations state that 300mm (1ft) must be left between the slurry and the top of the tank
