BOREHOLE DRILLING

Installing a borehole water supply in the UK is a large investment and it is therefore essential that the project is properly managed and the equipment is of good quality and professionally installed. We can drill a commerical borehole or a borehole for domestic or environmental use. No matter the size of the borehole, Filpumps can help supply and install your borehole in the UK.

Cost Effective

A smart, long-term solution for water supply reducing reliance on mains water, cutting monthly bills, and adding value to your property.

Environmentally Friendly

Reducing the demand on public water systems and eliminate the need for energy-intensive water processing.

Better Water

Tapping into deep underground aquifers, naturally filtered through layers of rock and soil.

The most asked questions about Boreholes

In most cases yes, there is potential for a Borehole but every site is different. At Filpumps, we offer local divining services to assess the geology and locate aquafers / water veins within bedrock to identify the best drilling location and likely water availability.

Costs vary depending on the location, drill depth, ground conditions and equipment required. At Filpumps, we provide a detailed quotation following a site visit, covering drilling, materials, pump and any required treatment.
Very rough costs can be £12-£20k + VAT.

Typically no, however SEPA regulations apply. For example, certain boreholes abstracting more than10m³ per day may need to apply for abstraction licenses. Most domestic applications do not require permissions as long as the drill location is out with 50m of your foul water soakaway.
There is no standard depth as it all depends entirely on the local geology and where a suitable water source is found. At Filpumps, Boreholes can typically be drilled from around 30m to 130m, with the required depth determined by the site conditions.
Yes, Borehole water can be perfectly safe to drink, but it should always be tested before consumption. Treatment depends on the results and may include filtration, UV sterilisation, iron/manganese removal or other specialist treatment.
Filpumps can assess your existing supply, investigate the available water source and look at solutions such as improving storage, increasing yield, installing additional equipment or drilling a new Borehole. This is what we do and we’re here to help.

THE BOREHOLE WATER SUPPLY PROCESS

At Filpumps, we aim to make the process of getting your own borehole water supply as simple and stress free as possible. From the first site visit to drilling, installing the system and treating the water if needed, our team takes care of it all. We will talk you through each step in plain language, so you always know what to expect. It is a straightforward way to get clean, reliable water from your own land.

Geological Survey

Identify the best location for drilling by using water divining techniques or *a geological survey to assess water availability, depth, and quality.
(* An additional fee will apply)

Project Estimate

Based on site conditions and survey results, we provide a detailed cost estimate covering drilling, materials, and installation. Ensuring transparency before work begins.

Drilling Works

Mobilisation of drill equipment and drilling of borehole to the required depth (30-200 meters), including steel casing installation to ensure borehole stability.

Yield

The borehole is pumped at a controlled rate to determine the available water yield and quality, helping to select the right pump system.
